Q1 Cold you tell us about the brand concept of Rory Beca? When did you start?
Rory Beca began with one-of-a-kind dresses and the complete women's wear collection launched in summer 2006. The line is about very wearable, sexy, feminine pieces that are easy to wear, versatile and fit many different body types.

Q2 Could you tell us your career as a fashion designer?
My educational background was at the Boston School of Design and St. Martin's School of Design. I started assisting fashion designer and stylist Deb McGuire in Los Angeles. From there I created my own line.

Q3 Please tell us about Fall 2007 collection. What sort of pieces are feature in the collection?
The key trends you will see in my Fall 07 collection is versatility - many of the pieces can be worn a lot of different ways..... tops that can be worn over pants, worn as a dress over tights, dressed up or dressed down. Another key trend is pockets. They give the piece character. Also, another key trend are belts that can be worn with the piece or mixed with other pieces in the collection. For fabrics I used a lot of crepe de chine in brights and neutrals, printed silks, printed lurex, and tafetta.

Q10 What are your long term goals as a designer?
I would like to continue creating my womens wear collection and would like to eventually add accessories, lingerie and swimwear.

Rory Beca is the creation of twenty-five year old Rory Edelman. With experience from St. Martin's School of Design in London and Boston School of Design, Rory creates very wearable feminine fashions with an edge.

Rory's fashion career began with hand knit scarves. While Rory was working alongside Deb McGuire (designer and stylist) in Los Angeles, Deb spotted Rory's scarves and immediately bought them to be used in Friends and Crossing Jordan. It was at this time she introduced her first collection - a line of one-of-a-kind hand knit scarves and tops created from rare and unusual yarns and vintage pieces. Noticed by the buyer of Henri Bendel in New York, she was given two exclusive trunk shows, which sold out immediately. The scarves were noted in the 2003 "Best of L.A." issue of Los Angeles Magazine.

Soon after Rory transitioned into a collection of one-of-a-kind dresses for red carpet events. Followed by her first collection for summer 2006.

Rory is an avid traveler who finds inspiration from all over the world. This translates into her designs, which can easily be worn everywhere from the beaches of Saint Tropez to the streets of London to shopping in Malibu.

>From vintage French lace to rhinestone broaches, appliques, ribbons, buttons and trims, to printed silks, silk charmeuse, chiffon and cashmere fabrics, Rory scours flea markets, vintage shows, private collections and antique shops all over the world that inspire the incredibly timeless detailing and fabrics seen in the Rory Beca collections.

Rory Beca is currently sold at select boutiques worldwide and select Barneys New York, Neiman Marcus, and Nordstrom.

Q4 What is the "Must Have" from your collection this Fall?
The must-have piece from my collection is the Rizzo. It is a v-neck tunic with a lot of versatility. It can be dressed up or dressed down, worn as a top over pants or on it’s own as a dress.

Q5 What accessory(ies) do you recommend for Fall?
For Fall I love chunky gold bracelets and necklaces, and different textured and patterned black tights.

Q6 What do you feel important when you are working on your pieces?
The fit to me is very important when I am designing. I want to create pieces that look incredible on many different body types.

Q7 What's inspiring your work?
I am inspired by many different things..... women I know, old movies, books, vintage fabrics.
For Fall I was inspired by beautiful European fabrics. Also, different women's body types, which shows in the fit of each piece. Lastly, the overall look that inspired me was a late sixties, sexiness… dark eye makeup, hair with a little volume. Think Catherine Ross from the Graduate… a Bond Girl.

Q8 What are some of your interests today?
Besides fashion I am interested in cooking, travel, and fitness.

Q9 Currently which stores carry Rory Beca in US and Japan?
The list of stores can be viewed on my website www.rorybeca.com. I am carried at Nordstoms, Intermix, Henri Bendel. In Japan I am sold at Little Nolita and Stunning Lane.
