Q1 Please introduce yourself.
Einat Zinger-Feiler, Fashion designer and store owner.
20 years Israel (Haifa) + 1 year New York +8 years Berlin

Q2 Would you tell us your career as a fashion designer?
Now in its sixth collection, the label has built on its reputation since its launch. It has exhibited at the trade shows Premium and Bread & Butter in Berlin, and participated in fashion shows. Hazelnut – Street Royalty also has its own shop, Flagshipstore, which is run by me and used to promote the work of upcoming designers alongside the Hazelnut collections.

Q3 Where does the brand name come from?
Hazelnut is a word play that came from my first name.

Q4 What do you think the trend for this season?
I think that every scene has its own trends and I can't point out a general direction of the market. The ones that manage to stand out though, are the neon geeks with their big plastic accessories.
Q11 Please tells us about your next collection.
Smog -Spring/Summer 2008 is inspired by the urban environmental climate. The colour palette evokes urban skylines in a range of greys, blue, black and white. With a light; sometimes almost sheer; cotton, linen, and jersey fabrics

Q12 What are your long term goals as a designer?
Design is a broad field and I would like to take part in other aspects of it. At the moment I am assisting in the making of a short video.

Q13 What do you think about Japanese culture? (fashion, art, and life style, etc)
I was always impressed by Japan's ability to bring the extremely modern means and innovative styles together in a fusion that respects and preserves the old traditional culture.

Q14 What is your favorite cuisine? Tell us your favorite restaurants.
The Israeli cuisine, which can be described as a Mediterranean fusion cuisine.
I just came back from a month in Tel-Aviv and I can highly recommend the "Mitbahon" (means tiny kitchen) a little local café-restaurant with a very cosy character, one street away from the very active and loud "Carmel" market.

The Hazelnut – Street Royalty line was launched by Einat Zinger Feiler in 2004 and was the evolution of an earlier enterprise that had centred around screenprinting on basic cuts. Born and raised in Israel, Einat moved to New York when she was nineteen. Passionate about cities, she planned to live two years in a city and then move to another. This grand scheme stalled when she moved from New York to Berlin, a place she finds herself since the end of 1999. Dreams of becoming a National Geographic photographer faded when a course in Media and Graphic Design introduced her to textile printing techniques, subsequently leading her into the world of fashion. With her new label the designer turned her concentration away from the graphic element and toward refined clothing construction, creating what she terms 'street royalty' – wearability with an exquisite edge.
Q5 What do you feel important when you are working on your pieces?
I put great value in functional wear that can fit in many situations.

Q6 Would you tell us about the brand concept? When did you start?
The Hazelnut – Street Royalty line was launched in 2004 and was the evolution of an earlier enterprise that had centred around screenprinting on basic cuts. The label is about what I call 'street royalty' – wearability with an exquisite edge.

Q7 Are there any people who inspired you? Who do you respect?
I am inspired by people on a daily basis, it can be anyone. The bus driver or a close friend, I like to observe situations.

Q8 What kind of fashion style do you like?
I have a weakness for layers and for a look that I call the '5 ties' look.
