Q1 Could you tell us what's a highlight of your recent design career?
This past October I was honored to be a Finalist at the Dallas Fashion Awards. It felt really good to be recognized in the same category with such amazing designers as Vivienne Tam, Free People, and Seven Jeans after only three years in business. |

Q2 What are the special qualities of your design?
The details in my designs are what stands out most to my customers. I utilize a lot of hand cut outs, beading and embroidery stitching. It's what I've become known for the most. I also use really soft knit fabrics so that the clothes are comfortable. The clothes are feminine and are able to be dressed up or down depending on where you are going and what you are doing.
Q3 What are you wearing this spring?
I can't wait to wear lots of spring dresses and sandals! After the winter I just want to wear more color, prints and feminine styles.
Q4 What do you offer to consumers different than others?
I offer a mix of style and comfort since all of my clothes are made of soft knit fabrics that stretch and flow with the body. It's so nice to wear form-fitting clothes that you can actually move in! |

Q10 Tell us your secret favorite store.
I have to admit, I love Target. I really love the wrapping paper section and some of their items for the home.
Q11 What is your favorite cuisine? Could you tell us a good restaurant in your area?
There is no shortage of amazing food in New York City. For Italian, I love Frank in the East Village. For Thai food, I go to Holy Basil. For Japanese, I love Nobu 57.
Q12 What are your aspirations?
My goal is to grow the women's line by selling to more boutiques around the world and some bigger department stores as well. I would then like to add a younger girl's line, which would have similar designs but in younger, brighter colors. Eventually I would like to design shoes, handbags and maybe even home furnishings. |

Q13 Would you like to add anything for the Japanese fans?
I was lucky enough to visit Tokyo last year. I love Harajuku! Everyone is so fashionable. I wish I was able to do some more shopping, but unfortunately I kept getting lost! Maybe someone can be my tour guide next time? Hopefully my line will be carried in some stores in Tokyo soon as well! |

Jamie fell in love with fashion at a very early age as the granddaughter of a fashion designer and a master tailor. In searching for design inspirations for her collections, Jamie often reaches back to the past. An avid devotee of flea markets, she can often be found cruising for hidden treasures, such as vintage items to be stylishly updated and incorporated into her collection. A world traveler, Jamie realized quickly that women everywhere feel most confident when they are comfortable in their clothes. This contemporary philosophy is the basis for Phyl Couture's body-conscious styles and soft jersey fabrics in which women can live.
Jamie studied at The Fashion Institute of Technology in New York. Prior to launching Phyl Couture, she worked in merchandising and design for a number of highly respected fashion houses (Armani, Ralph Lauren, Liz Claiborne, Tracy Reese). Today Jamie designs her fashions out of her own studio located in the heart of New York's Fashion District. |

Q9 If you can travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?
Right now I am dying to go to Morocco. I want to spend hours in the marketplaces looking through all of their fabrics and tapestries. I actually based my Spring 2008 Collection on images of Morocco that I have seen – the colors of the architecture, textiles and natural landscape really inspired me. I would also like to go to Istanbul. But anywhere warm with a beach generally makes me happy! |
