Q1 Could you tell us a little bit about your first book which will be published soon?
It's called "Fashion Inside Out" and is a stunning 10x10 hardcover photography book dissecting the fashion design process. The process is shown from Inspiration and Conception of an original idea, taking it through Execution (drawing, draping, sewing, etc) and end with Showing, Presenting and Selling the work (shows, models, buying, etc)... Project Runway blown-up. It's basically a huge, extensive photo diary of how design happens from beginning to end – from original idea - to getting in your fashionable closet! There are great interviews throughout the book from industry leaders and those who generally help the fashion machine go round. I've been working on it since June '07 and am finishing up the last few phases now for the book to be on shelves in the US and Europe by October, and throughout Asia by end of the year. There is also a 10-city book tour planned, so be sure to check my website for more updates and release dates!

Q2 If you were to dress one person, who would that be?
I would love to dress Cate Blanchett. I admire her work as an actor so much, and applaud her fashion risk-taking… she can elegantly wear almost anything.

Q3 Name three things we might be surprised to find in your closet.
A yoga mat that I've never used, a tennis racquet that hasn't seen the light of day since high school, and a dead body I've been meaning to get rid of for weeks now...

Q4 I see your designs are especially sophisticated and soft touched. Is there a muse for your design?
I really just have an imaginary woman I design for: urban, bold, modern and sexy, but aside from the usual "designer mumbo-jumbo" I do love seeing my best friend Anna wear my clothing. She's so supportive of my work, absolutely stunning looking and she truly loves fashion (you'll see her in my book – she's the leggy blonde!)... altogether an amazing girl.

Q5 What charitable cause is most important to you?
I'm an avid contributor and supporter of the Human Rights Campaign, The Trevor Project, and to the Matthew Shepard Foundation. All of these speak to my heart for different reasons, and whether its monthly dues, appearances, contributions, or any other form of help, I'm always grateful to lend a hand.

Q6 Whose closet would you like to raid?
Posh Spice, I can only imagine...

Q12 What is your favorite cuisine? Could you tell us a good restaurant in your area?
I love Italian food but after living in Italy I feel like I've tasted the forbidden fruit and it's hard to find something that compares. I do love SUPPER though, on 2nd St between Avenues A and B, the Spaghetti Limone and a full wine list makes them pretty stellar in my eyes.

Q13 What are your aspirations?
To be happy in my life and to make others happy with what I do, and with what I create.

Q14 Would you like to add anything for the fans?
Thank you for being patient... building an empire all by oneself takes time. ;)

Daniel Vosovic graduated the Fashion Institute of Technology in New York City, but his training and experience as a designer are informed by more than his formal education. Most recently, Daniel was chosen to participate in the Emmy-nominated reality series "Project Runway" by Bravo Television. As one of sixteen designers, he quickly catapulted to the forefront with his sublime sense of style, winning personality and grace-under-pressure attitude, ultimately winning more challenges than any of his fellow designers. Daniel was voted into the top three by the judges, and he presented a thirteen piece collection at New York's Fashion Week in February 2006 to glowing reviews.

With this project, a collaboration with the stylish new hotel chain, NYLO, Daniel was chosen to design an extensive collection that will be used as staff uniforms in all of NYLO's 150 locations across the United States; NYLO Wear consists of clean, modern designs that perfectly reflect Daniel's chic aesthetic and NYLO's urban feel. The collection will not only be available for purchase at all in-hotel boutiques, but online as well in the near future, and will be complemented with a wide range of merchandise, including accessories and outerwear. The first NYLO hotel opened this past spring '08 in North Dallas to fantastic reviews. Currently, Daniel has chosen to gain experience by working under another established designer, before launching a signature label of his own in the near future. He's also involved with numerous side projects including charity organizations in and around New York City, as well as writing his first book, scheduled to be in bookstores by fall 2008.

Q7 Is there a designer who inspires you the most?
Hands-down Nicolas Ghesquière; His ability to make me see something differently is unparalleled and unexpected.

Q8 What project you are working on right now?
My collaboration with NYLO Hotels launched last month. I designed a modern collection of men's and women's looks that will be used for the front-line staff in all of their 150 hotels. The collection, consisting of knits, suits, dresses, tops and more are for sale in each of the hotel's boutiques, as well an accessory collection of men's and women's bags and wallets. My book of course, has been a huge undertaking, I also just finished some work with the NBC show Lipstick Jungle, and as of an email this morning... something special for Madonna on her upcoming tour! I've also been freelancing since last November while I got all of these projects off the ground, though I'm aiming to have my own signature collection launch in 2009, which is, and has been, my focus behind-the-scenes.

Q9 Music to live by
Damn, this changes every week! I guess I'd have to say Sigur Ros as I usually listen to music without words (or at least words I don't understand) when I work... they've been a part of many design sessions. Oh, and Edith Piaf, I'll never get tired of her voice.

Q10 If you can travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?
I would really like to spend a month or two in Asia, because it's so vastly different from what I know, from what I grew up with: China, Japan, and maybe South Korea so I can visit one of my best friend's Ellee!

Q11 Tell us your secret favorite store.
Mantiques Modern on West 22nd St in Chelsea has the most amazing finds ever. I've been eyeing a set of Nickel-plated Industrial Lifts for months now... if only they weren't $14,000 a piece they'd be mine by now!
