Q1 Could you tell us what did you get the concept for Fall 2008 collection?
The theme Joan Of Arc was the driving force of my Fall 08 collection. I was simply inspired by her character (Strength, courage, fearlessness, fire, masculinity) during a time when women were not encouraged to do things that men did. I imagined her alive today and designed a collection that I pictured her wearing at a time when she can be all of the things she was then and yet still be feminine and powerful without being judged. I also played with the ideas of armor, quilting, basket weaving, pin tucking as rich details that outlined each piece giving them texture and depth.

Q2 What do you think is the most important element in your design?
The fit, movement of the material, the lines in the garment that outline the body. Overall, I think my work embodies women and embraces them, showing off their curves and enhancing their already existing figures. It's about being feminine and strong all at the same time.

Q3 What was your best experience in participating Project Runway 4? (It aired in Japan with Japanese subtitle)
Doing things that I never thought would be possible and being positively surprised with the results. Meeting Sarah Jessica Parker!

Q4 When was the worst?
Not enough sleep!

Q5 Your highly designed and gorgeous looking dress is worn by celebrities such as Jessica Alba, Fergie, Penelope Cruz and Paris Hilton. Besides those A-list celebrities, who is your average customer and what are they like?
My regular customer could be a mix from the young twenty something girl who works in a fancy wine tasting shop to the forty something lawyer who needs clothes for nighttime events. One thing they all have in common is that they love creativity and artful details. They want to look and feel special.

Born on May 11th 1976 in the city of Jerusalem, Kashou left his hometown of Ramallah soon after graduating from high school in 1996 and moved to the United States in pursuit of his childhood dream to one day become a fashion designer. Growing up as the son of an eclectic and fashionable mother, Rami was often commissioned by the local town socialites to design their ensembles.
In 1997 Rami Kashou began attending courses in design at Brooks College in California. After several months in the program, Kashou decided to choose a different route and challenge himself. While keeping in the circle of fashion, Rami worked in retail for several years after his departure from design school. Retail eventually lead him to a buying and merchandising position at a well known boutique in Los Angeles, all of which would become a vital part of his inspiration to launch his own line.
After a stint of traveling to Europe as a buyer, Kashou bit the bullet and purchased two sewing machines. He vigorously studied pattern making from the local vintage boutiques. " I would buy a piece and take it apart and inspect it, then I would learn." Kashou said. After three years of self-education, Rami began creating what would later be known as the "One of a Kind" collection that was picked up by various notable Los Angeles boutiques.

Known for his dramatic red carpet gowns, Rami Kashou has draped the silhouettes of celebrities and trendsetters such as ,Jessica Alba, Jennifer Lopez, Portia De Rossi, Fergie, Amy Smart, Lucy Lui, Tracee Ellis Ross, Lindsay Lohan, Paris Hilton, Penelope Cruz and Shiva Rose to name a few. His designs have been seen on the pages of In Style, Flaunt, Vogue, Lucky, Elle, Angelino, Interview, People and Us Weekly. Kashou was also commissioned to design the costumes for the March 2005 America's Next Top Model ad campaign that resided on billboards across the nation.
Rami Kashou's designs can be found at many notable boutiques in the United States and Europe including Inago, Tryst, Switch, Spool, Jamie Of Malibu, Tobi Blatt in San Diego, Give & Take and ManEaterthreads.com in San Francisco, Big Drop in New York, Luxe in Atlanta, Tangerine in Chicago, Bossi & Ichky in Washington, Hub in Arizona, Lea in Miami Beach, Maizen Maizen in Malaysia, Maximillia.com in Australia.

Q6 What are you working on right now?
My spring summer 2009 collection, an upcoming show in Puerto Rico, a handful of special order on wedding and evening gown due for this summer.

Q7 Whose closet would you like to raid?
Madonna!

Q8 In your opinion, what trends will we be seeing more of in '08?
Color, more belts, clean lines, prints, lots of draping!

Q9 Could you tell us your dream project that you would like to do?
I would like to open a few ateliers in Los Angeles and New York and Paris where I can sell exclusive evening and couture pieces for those clients who appreciate timeless pieces that emphasize on the finer details and workmanship.

Q10 Would you like to add anything for the Japanese fans?
Don’t be afraid to dream “BIG” in anything that you want to achieve in life. "Thoughts become things"
