Q1 Could you tell us what did you get the concept for summer swim 08 collection?
Last year I visited a few flea markets during the summer, I found a great set of vintage postcards. They are very retro with the "Welcome to Miami" print across the card. The cards were full of color, sun and fun. That is when I knew I wanted my next swim collection to be vibrant, and retro to the max. |

In your opinion, what trends will we be seeing more of in '08 on the beach? I do see the whole retro vibe coming back in a big way. High waist bottoms, with a fuller cut to the leg. I'm a fan of boy shorts. Also the One-piece suit is coming back too, with sexy cutouts. A little coverage can be sexy!
Q2 What are the special qualities of your design?
I enjoy classic silhouettes and style lines that flatter the figure. I've learned also that fit is very important.
Q3 How do you feel about participating Trunk Show 08? What are you going to do?
This is my first Trunk Show event! We will be having a mini cocktail party, fashion show, shopping party all in one. I will be there meeting people and hanging out. |

Q6 Who is your average customer and what are they like? Does any celebrity stop by?
The Sheila Frank customer rangers in mid teens to late 30s. I don't feel my label to be trendy, therefore many ages can wear it. I've been speaking with Jess Zaino of the Style Network (The Look for Less, How Do I Look, etc), Stevie Ryan (you tube celeb). I do hope for celebrities to catch on to the label, grant it I did just launch 11 months ago. |

Q7 What are you working on right now?
I am currently finalizing the Spring 09 to show during NYC Fashion week in September. Will be showing with Fashion Indie (www.fashionindie.com) for their week long event! Many designers from Project Runway will be showing in the same event. Exciting!!
Q8 What's your best fashion tip?
You must dress for your body shape and type, not for the trends. I can not stress that enough. A billowy shapeless dress will NOT flatter a curvy figure. If you are curvy, grab a belt and cinch at the waste... surprisingly you will appear thinner.
Q9 What's your must items for the beach?
Jersey wrap dress or a tunic length tee are perfect beach cover-ups!
Q10 What is the one item in your wardrobe you can't live without?
Cynthia Rowley blue suede peep toe heels, I adore them! |

Sheila says "a billowy shapeless dress will NOT flatter a curvy figure". The most important thing is knowing your body types. Bikini without understanding your body types is no more sexy! Sexy creates your body as well your body express a real sexiness. |

Q4 Who are your fashion icons (past or present)?
I've been of fan of Gwen Stefani since I was about 12 or 13. Growing up, and attending a Catholic School, it was hard to show a personal style amidst the uniforms. I would look to Gwen for inspiration. I remember all the crazy "fashion stages" she has gone through from bedazzled bra straps, bindi on her forehead, blue hair, braces, pink hair, rocksteady chick, to the glamazon today. I guess you could say I'm obsessed! Haha. I had the opportunity to meet her in November 2005. She met a lot of people that day so I'm sure she won't remember. (I have the photo to prove it. Haha.) Also referring to Fashion Icons... I'm really into older movie stars like Norma Shearer, and Jean Harlow. I admire their subtle sex appeal with a mix of class. I'm also a huge fan of burlesque and pinup. |

Q5 Do you think they influenced your personal style?
I'm an eclectic individual. It has semi influenced me. Last year I dabbled in pinup modeling, and burlesque... since I'm a curvy lady. Sex and Fashion is a lethal combination. |

Q11 What is your favorite cuisine? Could you tell us a good restaurant in your area?
I LOVE sushi and sashimi... yellow tail is my favorite. In my hometown of Central Pennsylvania, I recommend the restaurant Sapporo East. And for NYC I recommend Koi (across from Bryant Park)
Q12 Would you like to add anything for the Japanese fans?
Last January I had the opportunity to show my demi-couture dress collection in a show called Pet Fashion Week, The Tokyo Project, which was held at the Tokyo Big Sight. This year I may show again in the event and hope to meet all of you beautiful fashionistas! |
