Q3 Why and how did you become designer?
I've always wanted to design clothes. And I love denim. I was the person who wore denim everyday when denim wasn't even popular. I began developing and sketching the concept for a premium denim line about 2 years ago - - I wanted to create something fun, unique, and ultra-feminine - but also high fashion. A jean for the trendsetting woman. The result was Fortune Denim.
Q4 Where did you get the idea of a large fortune cookie box for the package and display? When do you usually get the inspiration for your works?
When I was a child, my mother was in the Chinese restaurant business. I was around take-out boxes and fortune cookies and traditional Chinese decor all the time. Those images left a permanent impression on me. And I am very fond of them. So the large take-out box idea came naturally - it's fun, but also effective. Creative inspiration for fashion can come from anything - including Chinese restaurants!
Q5 Could you tell us the process of working on your pieces?
Generally starts with a specific concept or idea which usually hits me when least expected. Then I start sketching. We then transfer those sketches to illustrator to fine tune the details. |

Q13 Have you been to Japan? What do you think about Japanese fashion scene?
I've been to Tokyo a few times, but each trip was very brief. I would love spend more time in Japan and visit the national attractions. The Japanese set many of the trends that move their way to other parts of Asia and the US months later. Japanese youth are excellent at creating new trends through fearless fashion expression.
Q14 What is your favorite cuisine? Could you tell us your favorite restaurants?

Q15 Could you tell us anything what you think its cool at the moment?
I really like layering necklaces. You can never wear too many. I also like that denim is now accepted as office attire and you can really dress up your denim now with a nice top and accessories.
Q16 Are there any people who inspired you? Who do you respect?
Madonna. Because she is a risk-taker, trend-setter, motivator, brilliant marketer, and amazing artist - and she does it all so effortlessly. |

Most Chinese food dinners end with a cookie predicting vague happiness, health and fortune coming to you in the future. When Karen Noseff cracked open a cookie at one fateful dinner not long ago, the fortune might've well as read "forget about a career in law; start designing jeans and happiness and success will be yours." Because that's exactly what she decided to do, and Fortune Denim, a new line of premium denim that combines the best of Southern California denim's fit and wash with Eastern design details, was born.
Fortune Denim embodies the clean and simple lines of flattering Western-made jeans with unique Eastern details waiting to be discovered. The overall feel is pure luxury with its satin waistband, including a personal fortune, and satin pockets. Just like cracking open an optimistic fortune cookie, pulling on the sleek and soft denim, buttoning the dazzling Chinese coin button and glancing at her slim reflections in the mirror is enough to change the wearer's perspective on the day.
Fortune Denim is created in Los Angeles with the finest quality Japanese denim, known for its superior softness, texture and durability, resulting in a sexy fit without overstretching. Fortune's dark and sleek denim creates an incredibly slimming effect. The ultra-versatile jeans are equally appropriate and comfortable for a night on the town or a day at the office. The signature details give each pair a style all their own. Each is lined with rich satin trim in the style of the ancient Tang Dynasty hand-sewn into the interior waistband and pockets in one of four distinctive colors - red, purple, blue and silver. The stitching is done with eye catching metallic thread in edgy color combinations and unique designs. The classic "F" pocket is designed to lift, flatter and transform and comes in an assortment of candy-coated colors using special zigzag stitching. Each pair of Fortune Denim is adorned with a button hand-set with 24 delicate Swarovski crystals made to resemble an ancient Chinese coin, and is coated with a special glaze to keep each crystal in place through repeated washings. And the most captivating accent is the personal fortune, unique for each pair of jeans, stitched into the interior waistband to bring good luck to all who wear them. |
