Q1 What is the concept of your brand? How did Anlo all start?
My partner David and I started Anlo because we saw a void in the denim market. While we saw a lot of jeans that were very basic and jeans that were very embellished, we didn't see many chic, sophisticated jeans out there. We wanted to do dressier denim in cleaner, less distressed washes that complimented other items in a woman's wardrobe. We also wanted to do great fashion pieces in denim which wasn't being done much either. Some of our most successful pieces have been dresses and jackets so my focus is not just jeans.

Q2 Could you tell us about 2007 Spring/Summer collection?
I used a lot of light weight denim for spring/summer. I focused on making fun, light, easy to wear denim pieces like shift dresses, trapeze dresses, bermuda shorts, overalls and a dressier denim jacket. I used a lot of vintage inspired washes and trims for this collection. One of my favorite trims I used for spring/summer is an Italian button that has hand stitching along the outside edge. Details like these help make Anlo pieces a little more special than your average denim.

Q3 Where are you from? What was growing up like?
I currently live in Los Angeles, but I'm originally from New Jersey. I was fortunate to grow up in a suburb very close to New York City. My parents took me in to New York often and exposed me to all the wonderful culture New York has to offer like the theater, restaurants, museums & shopping.

Q4 What is the difference between Anlo and other denim brands out there?
I think we put a large focus on fashion denim, not just basics like other brands. I love that people associate our line with not just great jeans, but cute fashion pieces too. I don't want to look like every other jean out there. I try to make some styles that are a bit more sophisticated than your typical jeans.

Q5 What do you think about current denim trend?
There are a lot of great denim trends going on right now. People are realizing how much you can do with denim. The skinny jean is a great trend that will hopefully be here to stay. I also love the whole 70's trend that's happening. Our high waist jean and wide leg jean have been two of our best sellers. I think the fact that designers are also experimenting with colored denim is great too.

Q11 Do you like any other designers? Where do you shop?
I love so many designers... Marc Jacobs, Phillip Lim, Chloe, Stella McCartney, Vanessa Bruno, I could go on and on. I shop everywhere. Some of my favorites are Neiman Marcus, Intermix in New York, Madison in Los Angeles, Paul & Joe in Paris, Harvey Nichols and Koh Samui and in London.

Q12 What is your goal? Where do you see yourself a few years down the line?
My goal is to build a brand with longevity. I love what I do and in a few years from now I hope to be coming up with more innovative ideas for Anlo.

Q13 Any last words?

When Jenna Andreola and David Lonstein ( "An" and "Lo" respectively) started Anlo, they set out to fill a void in the denim market. The market seemed to be divided by the overly trendy jeans and the "basic", but what about the middle ground? With over a year spent perfecting the fit and searching for the ultimate denim, Jenna and David launched Anlo. The brand has already received praise for its universal fit and innovative design. While offered in a variety of styles, Anlo remains consistent throughout with the clean double-pleated back pocket details and straightforward washes. The goal: to give women an elegant, sophisticated jean.

Their debut collection features a fresh take on the traditional denim bodies and a few of their own vision. While their fit remains tailored and classic, it is their innovative use of trim that separates the brand from the rest. The trouser style is offered with gold or wood buttons, as well as subtle braided side trim. The popular "Melrose" boot cut is offered with a clever piping detail in a variety of washes. There's no shortage of the jean of the moment; the skinny. Anlo offers the skinny with piping details, wood buttons, or zippers at the ankle. For those wishing to channel their inner Annie Hall, the high-waist "Shon" trouser with wood buttons is the ideal choice. Anlo also offers a collection of fashion forward pieces including an overall mini-dress with wood buttons, a mod pinafore, Bermudas, and tailored hot shorts with wood buttons.

The fledgling brand can be found in such fine stores as Bergdorf Goodman, Intermix, Scoop, and Nordstrom. Anlo is already a favorite of Mischa Barton, Lindsay Lohan, Nicole Richie, Vanessa Minnillo, Selma Blair, Carmen Electra, and Rachel Bilson.

Q6 What do you feel important when you are working on your pieces?
I try to bring a freshness into denim when I'm designing. Most women own a lot of jeans already and I try to design pieces that look different from all the denim they already own. I also feel it's important to make jeans that are comfortable, that keep their shape and that look great on a variety of body types.

Q7 Currently which stores carry Anlo in US and Japan?
In the US, Anlo is carried in Neiman Marcus, Bloomingdale's, Bergdorf Goodman, Intermix and many other smaller boutiques. In Japan, we are carried in Isetan, Free's Shop, and we will be in Barney's Japan soon.

Q8 Are there any projects that you have coming down the line that you'd like mention?
I would like to expand Anlo down the line and my business partner David would love to do an Anlo men's denim line. Right now, I just want to focus on growing our women's business.

Q9 What are some of your interests today?
I like to travel, but I haven't had time since Anlo has been growing and growing. I love going to flea markets and looking for great vintage finds. I also love spending time with my dog, Maddie who I adopted from a shelter last year. Making sure she's happy is a big priority for me.

Q10 which celebrities are wearing your products?
We are fortunate that we have some very fashionable celebrities wearing Anlo. Some of them include Lindsay Lohan, Jessica Simpson, Mischa Barton, Sienna Miller and Selma Blair.
