Q1 Please tell us about Iron Army. How did it start?
Iron Army Started around 3 years ago in cold Edmonton Canada. We used to go to thrift stores and buy old pairs of Levis. We would take the jeans apart and sow them back into slim fits and styles that we liked. Soon enough our friends liked our jeans and started asking us if we could modify their jeans and it started from there.

Q2 What is Iron Army means? What is the concept behind it?
Iron Army is all about community. The label has always been centered on the people that buy the jeans and how they are all connected. We believe that as people we are here for a purpose and that we can aid the world around us considering how privileged we are. Fashion is so empty and we see that attaching meaning and purpose to that emptiness can provide purpose to people that maybe never had it.

Q3 Could you tell us about the summer 2007 collection?
The summer collection is bold and wearable. We introduced four colors of denim for the women and men's line. We used bright yellow, Rust, a light sea foam green and also a light purple. We also branched out into a high wasted jean; a Bermuda style short with suspenders (it's a barney's exclusive) and by far one of our favorites is our grey denim women’s overall. (Check out the May issue of Nylon Mag, and TeenVogue for our colored denim)

Q8 What do you emphasize most in your work? what do you think important for the ideal products?
I focus on the fit and aesthetics of the piece. Fit is key, if it doesn't look right then it wont' work with a good fit. I'm a details person, so attention to the most important things in my eyes is fit, look and feel.

Q9 Are there any projects that you have coming down the line that you'd like mention?
We are going to be coming out with a basics line at a much lower price point for Fall Delivery. It consists of a high-rise, low rise, skinny, and strait for the women's line and a loose, skinny, and strait leg for the guys. Always keep your eyes peeled on our website because we put out a fresh video every week.

Q10 Any last word or shout out?

Q4 What is the difference between Iron Army and other denim brands out there?
I think one of the main things is that Iron Army isn’t trying to be another denim brand. I believe that a lot of the brands out there equate themselves to another brand, where we are completely singular and unique. When I see someone wearing Iron Army’s on the street it is beyond noticeable. Iron Army was never created to blend; it was created to be a statement, a statement of purpose and community.

Q5 Could you tell us about 777? What kind of project is this?
777 is the timeline of 7 pairs of jeans worn by 7 different people over the course of 7 months. It's the documentary of the organic wear of a raw pair of Iron Army Hiro Ito's to the final product and final washing. It taps into the lives of seven people who love denim; I think it almost gives the denim a personality paired with wearer considering how different each pair turns out.
