Q1 Please introduce yourself.
I like anything artistic..playing music to making good cocktails. Iwas actually a violinist in a collage orchestra in Tokyo before beinga designer. But I thought designer is good as my profession since I have loved making beautiful things and seeing beautiful things, also I have seen my parents who are also designers and I kind of knew what it's like being a designer. I felt I have the same DNA from my parents.

Jewelry design is something I can put my sense directly into, and continue through my life no matter what kind of situation I have, once I have skills and my studio to create.

Q2 Would you tell us your career as a jewelry designer?
When I was a junior highschool student, I remember I loved Lisa Jenks jewelry since my mom travelled to NY and brought back one of Lisa Jenks's watch which she bought at Barneys New York. After about 10 years, I was forgetting about Lisa Jenks, but I left Japan to sturdy at F.I.T(Fashion Institute of Technology) in NY to obtain jewelry design skills and to learn English. After graduation I got a job at Lisa Jenks and worked full time about 2 years, and I officially started my own line a few years later. Now, I also design for other company in Tokyo or NY such as a watch brand by Jennifer Lopez and so on.. as well as my own.

Q3 Are there any people who inspired you? Who do you respect?
My parents and friends.
EMA TAKAHASHI new york

Q9 As you are Japanese, living in NYC, what do you see Japan and what do you think about the difference between living Japan and NYC?
After I came to NY I became conscious that Japan(especially Tokyo) has one of the most beautiful and fashionable and eccentric culture, As a creator who wants to built a career, it is good to live in NY because just being Japanese can be one of the good identity as a designer, although it is not a big part.
And fashion people in NY tend to like Japanese sense of beauty.

Bond Street(lounge), and Lupa in NYC, Supercore Cafe in Brooklyn

Her design has been used in the magazines andmovies in the US and Japan. She also designs for other brands such as for Jlo by Jennifer Lopez watch and so on.

Q4 Would you tell us about the brand concept? When did you start?
I am doing my own brand slowly since after 5 years I came to NY,but I don't have a regular cycle to make new collections because I don't want to be tied up with the market schedule or trend each time.
I try to maximize the beauty in the most simple expression. I try to make my design striking yet clean.

Q5 What kind of fashion style do you like?
edgy-elegant , mixed feelings of masculine & feminine, not too sweet.

Q6 Who is your favorite designer?
Designers in early 20th century.

Q7 Please tell us about next collection. What sort of pieces are feature in the collection?
Next one will be also like Peony Collection. I am so into the 'drawing style', just like drawings made with pen which is half broken.

Q8 What are your long term goals as a designer?
I want to continue to be a creator both in New York & in Tokyo, knowing about those countries from my own true experience, also I want to have lots of extra time to be free and rich in spirit.
