Q1 What's a highlight of your recent design career?
Honestly, I get such a high when I sell a piece right off my neck! Going out for dinner or drinks, having someone come up to me and ask where I bought my necklace from, and then selling it right there is a great feeling. These are the girls that I’m trying to market to so when this happens, it reiterates how much I love what I do.

Q2 What is your spring 2008 collection like?
Ah, my spring collection.... can I say fun, fun fun? I typically do several themes each season to keep things interesting. I designed a cute little line called Ahoy! which is a colorful play on a nautical theme. I also created Sweetheart where I incorporate pastel reproduction vintage chain along with love themed charms. Another line is called Tangled Elements. This one is for the girl who loves wearing "stand out" pieces- the necklaces and earrings are pretty wild!

Q3 What do you see people wearing on the streets that you think is not tasteful?
Taste is different for everyone. Life is too fun for us all to look, dress and act alike. That's what makes fashion so fun!

Q4 If you could rewrite your history a bit and take on a totally different career or lifestyle, what would it be and why?
I don't believe in rewriting. I wouldn't change a thing!

Q8 What is your favorite cuisine? Could you tell us a good restaurant in your area?
I have never met a cuisine I didn't like so I could never pick one! One of my favorite places in Chicago is a little breakfast joint called Toast. After a night of cocktails you must get the Chorizo Eggs. They are cooked to perfection!

Q9 What projects are you currently working on?
I'm actually working on doing a Tokyo tradeshow later this year. Tokyo has always been on my top list of places to visit so if I can do a little business and a little personal exploration of the city, it will be a dream come true!

Q10 Would you like to add anything for your fans?
Just a huge thanks! Even after 3 years of doing this, I still get excited when people tell me they like my work.

Jami started playing around with beads, chains and metals about five years ago. She always had huge interest in art and fashion but never thought of jewelry as a creative outlet. After a friend had begged her to try and make something for her birthday, she was hooked!

For two years Jami worked on perfecting her skills and about three years ago, Jami Rodriguez Jewelry, was born. Jami doesn't take herself too seriously and you can see that in her whimsical and fun jewelry. From necklaces that look like a deep-sea treasure box to teardrop earrings juxtaposed with little pretzels there is never a dull moment with her jewelry!

Jami Rodriguez Jewelry jewelry is carried in over 100 retailers worldwide and has been featured in Lucky, Marie Claire, California Apparel News and Stylediary.net to name just a few!

Q5 What do you offer to consumers different than others?
Variety. I get bored very easily so when I design a collection each season, I tend to be all over the board. I think this is why I have such an amazing variety of stores and customers who buy my jewelry... from wild and crazy Patricia Field to one of my sweetest little Iowa stores, Hebe. When I first started in the business, everyone told me I had to find a niche to "make it" but since I hate niches I decided to do what I wanted each season and keep my buyers guessing. Hummm, so perhaps variety has become my niche?

Q6 Music to live by
Music is a huge part of both my life and design experience. I've been playing around with my upcoming Holiday collection while listening to Richard Ashcroft, Rodrigo y Gabriela, Dredg and Chris Cornell. I think Holiday may end up being a little "dark"!

Q7 Favorite cocktail and where to drink it?
A vodka tonic... in the afternoon, at the Conrad Hotel Chicago. No one is ever there so my boyfriend and I can sit and discuss life without any distractions. (and they have the coziest couch ever!)
