Helsinki born and now living in Brighton U.K., Rina Tairo studied fine arts in Helsinki, Florence and London. In the late 80s while working on sculpture in Melborne, Australia, a bundle of finely spun brass alloy opened up her imagination to smaller treasures and inspired her to design her first jewellery collection. The instant success it created was soon met with a full time career in jewelry design. She has since designed exclusively her own collections and periodically for other designers such as Whistles, Paul Smith Women and others. Her work can also be seen in folms such as Emma, The Legend of Sleepy Hollow and Love Actually. She has exhibited her work internationally including the slipstitch touring exhibitionm the Adelaide festival and Southerbys new designers 2000. Her work is available in leading stores worldwide including many stores in America, Japan, and Australia as well as across the U.K and Europe.
INSPIRATION
The inspiration behind each piece lies between obsevations of nature and life, and in the actual process of creating with precious materials, the play with texture the considered weight of the precious metals and the feel of each piece on the wearer, as well as the richness of colour presented in the selected gems. All are there to play with your imagination to open up new possibilities and enhance your life and surroundings. |
