Q1 What was your best experience in designing jewelry?
I still have a hand in every piece I make so when I see someone on the street wearing a piece of mine, it's so rewarding to see someone enjoy my work. |

Q2 How did you get the brand name Prismera? Is there a story behind it?
Coming up with a brand name is probably the most difficult thing I've had to do for my work! Prismera is the culmination of the word "prism" and "chimera". A prism was the metaphor that I used to describe my skills in filtering the world around me to create jewelry and more. One of the many definitions of the word chimera is a "fanciful illusion". At the time, I could not yet see where this company would take me in my creative pursuits—this was all a dream that was in my mind.
Q3 What is the one must-have article of clothing for women this summer?
I am on the lookout for the perfect square scarf for warm weather. It needs to have a beautiful pattern or design; a light layer that would be perfect for when the air takes on a slight chill. Something in silk, cotton, or a loosely woven linen. |

Q7 Music to live by
There is so much music I love. I listen to a great deal of folk and sometimes country because of the stories; there is a quality of nostalgia, pain, and hope in much of it. Here is a mixture of a variety of styles though: Dusty Springfield, Feist, Spoon. Ben Folds, The Weakerthans. Rilo Kiley, Fiona Apple. James Taylor. Mates of State.
Q8 Favorite cocktail and where to drink it?
An ice cold Tanqueray and tonic, outside, at dusk. There is a quality in the air that changes the taste of things, I highly recommend it!
Q9 Would you like to add anything for your Japanese fans?
I wasn't aware that I had any Japanese fans! I would like to say hello and that I am thrilled to have a chance to connect with you. |

New York City Based jewelry designer, Laura Su.
The word "Prismera" comes from a combination of prism and chimera; this company began as what seemed like a pipe dream in the mind of a girl who just wanted to make beautiful things.
The work that she create now is contemporary with traditional influences. I find inspiration in everyday objects and events; she hope that my work will bring that joy into your life as well.
She would like to say thank you for viewing her work and for supporting independent design.
Laura Su designs and creates jewelry and accessories under her company, Prismera Design. A graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design, she holds a BFA in illustration and has been handcrafting jewelry since 2004. She now resides in New York. |

Q4 What are you working on now?
Currently, I'm working on a collection that is inspired by Aubrey Beardsley; he was an amazingly prolific illustrator who created beautiful and elaborate images with ink. I'm also working on a new set of floral designs as well.
Q5 What do you offer to consumers different than others?
Oftentimes you'll see jewelry that is beautiful or incredibly unique in their own right but detract attention from the wearer. I like to think that my work, while bold, still takes second seat from the loveliness of a person. I try to be as environmentally aware as I can. However, I am under no illusion that I am alone; there are many modern jewelry companies that also produce great work and I am blessed to be in this industry with them. |

Q6 Do you usually wear jewelry? Do you prefer wearing a gold or silver?
Yes, absolutely! I generally wear one statement piece of jewelry, whether it is a bib necklace or a chunky ring and I prefer to wear gold. There is something that is so timeless in the richness of gold; it ties us with the ancients. |
