Commercialized in 2002, the French brand April 77 offers you today its sixth and strongest collection. At a very young age Brice Partouche observed his father, founder of the denim brand Bonaventure and developed his passion for the blue canvas.
Musician at heart and member of a rock band, Brice finds inspiration while touring and brings musical culture to each piece of garment. Over zipped jeans, cigarette pants, studded motorcycle jackets, the collections radiate punk- rock influences, according to the universe of its designer.
April 77 is exclusive and avant-gardes but yet affordable. The devotees are between 20-30 years old, trendy and sensitive to the authenticity of the product.
With a modern conception, the label thinks in terms of a visual and personalized silhouette.
April 77 imposes an attitude, a style, its own universe...
Q1 What is the concept of your brand?
It's more about culture than clothes. Clothes are not as important as their meaning. My personal culture,DIY and rock music is April77.

Q2 Could you tell us about the projects that you are working on right now?
We are working on the new winter 2007/2008 collection. Limited edition of our Joey slim jean is arriving soon in collaboration with a famous music instrument label...
We have edited a fanzine too! I have more ideas than time...

Q3 Why and how did you become designer?
I grew up in a designer family. But I started to study medicine... I ve created April 77 because of my passion for music. I play drums in my punk band, we record some records and play gigs.

Q4 When do you usually get the inspiration for your works?
Guess what... listening records, going to gigs, playing with my band. The streets of Paris are not very rock n' roll... I prefer those of Brooklin or East London.
Relaxing at home ? Certainely not! I'm a hyperactive...

Q5 What do you feel is important when you are working on your pieces?
Authenticity, fitting and details.

Q6 What do you think about the current fashion trend?
I like the trends from Scandinavia countries.
But I'm not very interested by fashion, designers and trends... Some are really respectable and genious, but you know what? I have never been or seen a catwalk!!

Q7 Which stores carry your products in US and Japan?
US: Fred Siegal, Hollywood Trading Company,H Lorenzo,Barneys, American Rag...
JAPAN: Nano Universe, Loveless...

Q13 Do you like any other designer? Where do you shop?
Hedi Slimane is a very talented guy. He's a real designer. I wear my own jeans, plain black or white Fruit Of The Loom tes shirts, and Creepers/English classic shoes... I don't buy a lot of clothes. I spend my money in records, and vintage drumkits.

Q14 Could you tell us anything what you think its cool at the moment?
It's cool to buy April 77... hahahaha

Q15 Are there any people who inspired you? Who do you respect?
My friends inspire me. When I imagine a clothe, I think about some of people I know wearing it. And I respect anyone who think and act like me.... hahaha.

Q16 Favorite word or phrase?
I don't know! It's changing every day...

Q8 Which celebrities are wearing your products?
Ron Wood from The Rolling Stones, Franz Ferdinand, Moneybrother, Dennis Lyxsen from refused/The International (Noise) Conspiracy/Lost patrol Band, I've heard that Yoko Ono have bought some pieces (!)... and maybe some other. But I've met only Anders from Moneybrother. He's so cool and his band is great. I'm very proud as well to dress Denis Lyxsen. This guy is awesome... My father was prouder than me for Ron Wood!

Q9 What do you do on your day off?
When I'm not working on April 77, I practice with my band in my parents basement (!), or play gigs. My life can be reduced at April77 and my band! Sad but cool!!!!

Q10 Are there any places or countries you would like to visit?
I love big cities. But this summer I've spent 4 hours on a litlle boat, on a lake, lost in the middle of canyons in California. And it was so great to drive this "boat"! Me who hate water! Also I would like to make a long roadtrip with my 62's Ford Thunderbird.

Q11 Have you been to Japan?
Yes, in Tokyo

Q12 What is your favorite cuisine? Could you tell us your favorite restaurants?
I'm vegetarian, so I love Indian food and Italian restaurants. My favorite restaurant...maybe Le Boboli, rue du Roi de Sicille, Paris 4 eme : Great Italian food, close to my office.
In Grenoble (the city where I grew up) there's the best Indian restaurant of the world! Le Bombay...
