Q4 Would you tell us your career as a fashion designer?
I started making clothes while I was studying Painting at Pratt Institute and working at clubs like Limelight. I would make clothes to wear out and people would ask me to make them things. I had some private clients in school and decided to develop my work into a line during the summer of 1996 when I got the inspiration for a print with chromosomes. The A-line DNA dresses in fluorescent colors were sold under the name CUNT clothing and debuted at TG-170. In 2003 I started to sell the line under my name CHANDI. In 2004 I focused entirely on print design, offering a line of t-shirts for men, women and children. In the summer of 2006 I decided to return to the Ready To Wear collection.

Q5 What do you feel important when you are working on your pieces?
My collections focus mainly on print design and silkscreen. Many of my prints are drawings of mine.

Q13 What do you think about Japanese culture? (fashion, art, and life style, etc)
I've always loved the creativity of the Japanese. In fashion you find people that aren't afraid of color, love mixing prints and patterns, textures and layers. Accessories infiltrate every aspect of daily living from domestic to electronic, USB flash drives shaped like cartoon characters! Fashion art and lifestyle merge together as an outlet for creative expression.
