Q1 Would you tell us about your brand? What is the concept behind it
I guess we are inspired by our Northern environment, our stuff is simple, plain, contrasty, playful, quirky even childish, comfortable "easy-wear" We love colours, although "Lounge and Hat Trick" are probably our least colourful collection to date.

Q2 What is your greatest inspiration when you make pieces?
Work. Our work itself inspires us, we print everything by hand and it feeds the mind. Also the life and environment that surround us.

Q3 What do you think the trend for this season?
The New rave and nineties/eighties stuff is definitely everywhere. Don't know how long it will last thou... Were not too hot on seasonal trends... We don't consciously look out for trends. If they subconsciously enter our work, then so be it!

Q4 Tell us the locations where we can find your collection.
Lux-shop, Uudenmaankatu 26 00120 Helsinki, among others. On the web: www.starsandinfinitedarkness.com/

Q5 Tell us about your next collection? Any future plans?
Were planning a major move, but it's a bit too early to early to say anything, as were a bit superstitious...

Q6 What is your next achievement for your future?
As above... shh!

Q7 What is your favorite food? Any good restaurants?
You might think that I am just saying this, but I really really really do love vegetarian sushi, there are 2 good local restaurants, Norimaru and Maruseki, in my hometown of Tampere where I regularly go for Lunch. I also love Indian food. In Helsinki my top choices for cheap but good simple lunch are Tori, and the tomato Soup served with typical finnish ryebread in Bar9 are a favourite.

Sohjo Handmade Clothes

http://www.sohjo.net

Sohjo Handmade Clothes is a Finnish-Hungarian collaboration between Victoria Thompson and Andras Hari. Since 1998, Sohjo has evolved into its current form of independent clothing label. It started off in East London/ UK as a small handmade accessory label, selling in shops like Urban Outfitters, Paul & Joe, Question Air and The Dispensary amongst many others. Roughly translated, Sohjo means sleat or slush in Finnish, hence the crushed snowflake logo. Sohjo is mostly about graphic prints and simple cuts. We produce small runs of high quality, hand printed easy-to-wear clothes with a distinct look. In 2005 we relocated to Uudenmaankatu 26 00120 Helsinki, Finland where we currently have our own shop called Lux (www.lux-shop.fi).

Q8 What kind of fashion style do you like?
Comfort, quality, quirk, Colour contrast... and simplicity

Q9 What do you see Japanese culture? (fashion, lifestyles, etc..)

Well Japanese music and fashion is REALLY big amongst teenagers, especially girls here in Finland. My 16 –year old niece regularly dresses up in far out stuff, unwalkable platforms and frilly skirts etc... to go and see Japanese bands, she even wears brown contact lenses to "look more Japanese"!

We are a bit older (Victoria 32 and Andras 34) and what intrigues me about Japan, is o fcourse this phenomenon of youth culture, but also the food and nature of Japan. I guess many Finns feel that Japanese and Finnish people have something in common, they are both very visually aesthetic peoples. And there seems to be a similar mood of orderliness, neatness and authority.

Q10 Where do you live?
Lovely Finland

Q11 Where do you go for shopping?
As I am a mum to a very little girl, I don't get to go shopping as often as before but a few favourites are: Lux, our owns shop ofcourse and a few other local Helsinki small boutiques, like Myymälä2. Also Marimekko is a strong favourite, especially Maija Louekari and Samu-Jussi Koski's designs. The local flea-markets I visist regularly. Abroad: Beyond The Valley in London, Browns Focus, Selfridges and Top-shop in London all stock lots of independent non-big brand stuff. Also we love the London markets.

Q12 If you can travel anywhere in the world, where would you go?
Iceland, Japan, Greenland, Faroe Islands, Siberia, Indonesia, Saharan Africa, Brazil out of palces I haven't visited that I always have wanted to go to.

Norway, Hungary, India, England are places I would love to go back to.

Q13 Any last words?
LOVE from SOHJO!
